Which Hot Springs should I visit in La Fortuna?

La Fortuna is known for its stunning natural landscapes and abundance of hot springs. Here's a brief overview of the popular options our clients ask about and we like to recommend:

  1. Baldi Hot Springs:  Baldi offers a family-friendly atmosphere with a large number of thermal pools and water slides. It's a great option for visitors traveling with kids, as there are activities for all ages.

  2. Ecotermales Hot Springs:  This smaller and more intimate option provides a relaxing experience in a tranquil environment. Ecotermales limits the number of guests to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.

  3. Los Lagos Hotel Resort: This family-style hot springs is a big complex with lots of options and this is where we go as a family if we were to visit local hot springs. Good value for the beautiful installations. A buffet meal is also included.

  4. The Springs Resort & Spa:  This upscale resort features a range of pools with different temperatures, offering breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano. The Springs also offers a wildlife sanctuary and a variety of restaurants.

  5. Los Laureles Hot Springs:  Los Laureles is a more budget-friendly option, offering several pools with varying temperatures. The setting is less extravagant compared to other resorts, but it provides a relaxed and comfortable experience.

  6. Paradise Hot Springs:  Paradise Hot Springs offers a blend of relaxation and adventure, with both hot and cold pools, as well as water slides. The location also offers stunning views of the Arenal Volcano.

  7. Titokú Hot Springs:  Titokú offers a more natural and rustic experience. Its pools are fed by mineral-rich springs and surrounded by lush vegetation. It's a great option for those seeking an authentic and serene atmosphere.

  8. Tabacón Hot Springs: Tabacón is one of the most renowned hot spring resorts in La Fortuna. It boasts numerous natural thermal pools of varying temperatures, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. The resort offers a luxurious experience with spa treatments and a swim-up bar.

  9. El Choyin Free Hot Springs: We would be remiss not to mention the famous local free hot springs. I have lived in La Fortuna for over 20 years and it wasn’t up until last year I took the time to visit El Choyin. It had always gotten bad raps for being dangerous and unsightly, but our local community has done a better job to keep it safe and friendly to tourists. It’s very rustic and a bit tricky to get to the natural hot springs river, but you can usually find a nice quiet spot and hang out and allow the calming thermal waters flow over you while surrounded by the rainforest at the base of the Arenal Volacano.

When choosing a hot springs option in La Fortuna, consider factors like the atmosphere you're looking for (luxurious, family-friendly, rustic, etc.), the number of pools available, the views, and any additional amenities or activities. It's also recommended to check recent reviews and pricing to make the best decision based on your preferences and budget.
